SilverSneakers® Fitness Program offers an innovative blend of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and socially oriented programming that allows older adults to take greater control of their health. SilverSneakers members receive:
SilverSneakers group exercise classes are appropriate for older adults who are fit and active as well as those who are sedentary, intimidated, unfamiliar with exercise, entering post-rehabilitation programs and ALL those who enjoy a positive, upbeat social environment. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises. Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. SilverSneakers®Fitness Program As a SilverSneakers member, you receive a basic fitness center membership that entitles you to use any equipment at any participating SilverSneakers fitness center where the program is available. You can take part in friendly group exercise classes and work with trained advisors to develop your own exercise plan. The program concentrates on improving strength, balance and flexibility to help you get fit and stay fit: Many SilverSneakers members have shared a variety of positive experiences: how the program helps them maintain energy and stay active, how it helped them lower blood pressure and even how it helps them feel younger.
