Reidsville Family YMCA
2007 We Build People Campaign Case Statement
Contribution Goal: $60,000
Our YMCA provides financial assistance to hundreds of children and adults in need through our “YMCA Open Doors” program. This financial assistance program allows people to participate in all of our programs and memberships regardless of their ability to pay.
Money raised in the “We Build People” campaign helps our community in two ways: 1) it provides direct services to people in need through program and memberships, and 2) it ensures support to keep our program fees affordable to all.
How do we do it? Each year, we raise funds through our “We Build People” campaign to make it happen. Last year, we gave over $84,000 in financial assistance, which represents $53,000 for scholarships serving 1,033 individuals. In addition, the YMCA provided over $31,000 in program support to keep fees affordable to all.
In Reidsville, some of the people we helped include:
Over $53,000 Scholarships:
- 170 Financially struggling adults, families, and seniors received membership financial assistance to improve health and spend wholesome time with their families.
- 70 Children were able to receive activity scholarships so they could play sports, participate in childcare programs, and learn to swim.
Over $31,000 Reduced Program Fees:
- Over $24,000 was allotted to keep youth program fees for childcare, swim lessons, and youth sports affordable to all.
- Over $7,000 was allotted to provide support for members in the community to purchase swimming pool passes.
Because of generous gifts from our members, friends, and staff many deserving people in our community realize their hope of enjoying much needed YMCA services. Our goal is “to turn no one away who cannot afford full fees.”
How Will “We Build People” Funds Be Spent?
